Once elected for another term in the September 2025 elections, the People’s Progressive Party Civic (PPP/C) will create new housing schemes across the country and vastly improve the existing ones.
This is according to the party’s General Secretary and current Vice President of Guyana, Dr. Bharrat Jagdeo.
Speaking during his weekly press conference, Jagdeo told reporters that the party will continue its robust housing agenda, creating new communities in all regions to meet the local demand for land and housing.
Since 2020, the party has been focused on delivering 50,000 house lots within the five-year term in office. The incumbent PPP administration is expected to meet this target this year, but it has also been able to distribute houses.
Such efforts will continue, Jagdeo promised.
“(We are going to) continue with core home building, expand vastly young professional homes being built, and we are going to support people financially and materials-wise so more Guyanese can own homes,” he said during the Thursday press conference.
But that’s not all. Jagdeo vowed that the PPP government would also continue ongoing efforts to make existing communities safer.
According to him, the government will invest in concrete drains in communities, install streetlights and security cameras, and develop recreational facilities and Police outposts. He also said the government will focus on solving traffic congestion woes and improving garbage collection.
