Mohamed says party symbol is a leopard not jaguar

Businessman Azruddin Mohamed has said that his political party’s symbol is a leopard, not a jaguar.

Following a Guyana Elections Commission (GECOM) decision to block Mohamed from using the jaguar as his party symbol, he was quoted in other sections of the media as stating that it is a leopard.

“… if you Google the image, it’s not a jaguar. It’s another species of a cat. It was a leopard,” he reportedly told Demerara Waves Online News.

However, in a video now shared widely on Facebook, Mohamed can be heard saying that the party symbol is a jaguar. It is unclear if the association between a leopard and Guyana; the jaguar, on the other hand, is Guyana’s national animal. It is expected that the businessman and GECOM will engage on the matter.
