Police Complaints Authority Chairman passes away

Chairman of the Police Complaints Authority (PCA), Justice (ret’d) William Ramlal passed away on Friday.

Justice (ret’d) Ramlal was appointed Chairman of the PCA in September 2018. He served up until his death.

Before this appointment to this post, Justice (ret’d) Ramlal held several other capacities. He was a judge of the High Court of the Supreme Court of Judicature, specialised in criminal and civil law.

Before this, he worked privately. He was also a Magistrate for several years, a State Counsel in the Attorney General’s Chambers, and a teacher.

Justice (ret’d) Ramlal pursued his studies in law at the University of Guyana and the University of West Indies (UWI).  He also holds a Legal Education Certificate from the Hugh Wooding Law School.

Among his accolades, Justice (ret’d) Ramlal is known for his special skills in analysing and assessing evidence, a task which he undertook while he chaired the Police Complaints Authority.
