Rovel Santiago, 21, and Shawn Williams, 20, both gold miners, were charged with murder on Tuesday, days after they were arrested.
The charge was laid Contrary to Common Law of the Criminal Law (Offences) Act, Chapter 8:01.
The case was called at the Bartica Magistrate’s Court before Magistrate Teriq Mohammed, where the charge of murder was read to them. They were not required to plead, and both were remanded to prison until August 14 for continuation.
They are accused of murdering Riley Abrams on Saturday, at Balamani Backdam, Cuyuni River, Region Seven.
Meanwhile, a post-mortem examination was conducted on the body of Riley Abrams on Monday by Government Pathologist Dr Nehaul Singh, who gave the cause of death as multiple incise wounds.
