PPP’s re-election launch to focus on people-centred policies, progress and patriotism – Jagdeo

People-centred policies, progress, and patriotism are the key messages of the People’s Progressive Party/Civic (PPP) as it prepares to launch its 2025 re-election campaign on Sunday, July 13.

General Secretary of the party, Dr. Bharrat Jagdeo on Thursday said his party has multiple messages for the population as it prepares for the September 1, 2025 polls, however, he believes that once there is unity, everyone will rally around the PPP.

“Love for country and bringing our people together will be the most important thing in our campaign because if we do that, we have the energy of the entire country behind us to achieve the things that we want for Guyana and all of our people,” he noted.

Acknowledging that there are still some people who live below standard conditions, Dr. Jagdeo said there are plans to improve the goal is to work towards progress for all as the campaign stage will be dominated by messages “reinforcing the love for this country, working towards progress and bringing our people together.”

He pointed out that “I see people saying there’s still poor people and the answer is yes, we can’t get rich in five years…and oil is only 37% of the budget, you can’t do that but we will ensure that they’re not excluded that those people who live now in poor circumstances that they get the help through jobs, better housing and benefits directly, we get their children supported, all of that for them, wherever they live in the country.”

Over recent months, the party has outlined several plans to be included in its elections manifesto. Among those plans are business opportunities in the oil and gas sector that can allow persons to invest as low as $50,000 to earn returns, continued expansion of the road network to ease traffic congestion, a transportation grant for school children, increases in the Government cash grant programmes, expansion of the housing programme, construction of more hospitals and more.

Already, the party has surpassed its 2020 manifesto promises in these areas.
