With just two days to go before a key milestone in the country’s 2025 General and Regional Elections, the Guyana Elections Commission (GECOM) has confirmed that all preparations are in place for Nomination Day, set for Monday, July 14 at the historic Umana Yana in Kingston, Georgetown.
The exercise, which will run from 10:00 hrs to 14:00 hrs, will see political parties officially submitting their lists of candidates to contest the elections scheduled for 1st September. GECOM has pledged a smooth, transparent, and orderly process in keeping with the nation’s electoral laws and established guidelines.
Parties intending to contest are reminded to submit their lists within the specified period. The Chief Election Officer will be present to receive submissions, verify documents, and address any clarifications that may arise. An official acknowledgment will be issued upon successful submission of complete nomination packages.
The Commission has underscored the need for all parties, supporters, and stakeholders to strictly observe protocols and respect the democratic process. GECOM has assured that arrangements will support a structured, peaceful, and dignified atmosphere throughout Nomination Day.
Members of the media are invited to cover the event, in line with GECOM’s ongoing commitment to transparency and public accountability.
Political parties and interested persons can access further information by contacting the Commission’s Secretariat or visiting www.gecom.org.gy.
