Village Rams and Titans All-Stars advance to Kares T10 East Coast/Georgetown semi-finals

The Georgetown/East Coast Zone of the Kares One Guyana T10 Tapeball tournament has reached its semi-final stage.

Defending national champions Titans All-Stars and Village Rams are among the teams vying for the zone title.

They are joined by Team Upsetters and Up Tap XI, setting up a thrilling finals day at the Lusignan Sports Club today.

The action starts at 10:30h with Titans All-Stars facing Up Tap XI, followed by Team Upsetters taking on Village Rams at noon.

The zone final is scheduled for 15:15h.

Titans All-Stars laid down a marker in their quarter-final clash at the National Stadium, crushing Pure Entertainment by a massive 163 runs under the lights.

Their innings was a whirlwind of power hitting, as they amassed an imposing 202 for 5 in their allotted 10 overs.

Quentin Sampson was the chief architect of this onslaught, smashing a breathtaking 88 off just 23 balls, which included 11 towering sixes and four boundaries.

He found valuable support from Sachin Singh (29 off 13), Kemol Savory (24 off 7), and Christopher Barnwell, who provided a late flourish with an unbeaten 31 off a mere nine deliveries.

Pure Entertainment’s bowlers were under the pump, with Laurel Parks (3 for 24) being the only bowler to emerge with respectable figures.

The chase proved to be a calamitous affair for Pure Entertainment, who crumbled under pressure to be bundled out for a paltry 39 in just 6.1 overs.

Only Carlton Jaques (15 off 6) offered any semblance of resistance.

Titans’ Daniel Ross was instrumental in dismantling the innings, picking up a clinical 4 for 7, while Sampson capped off a stellar all-round performance with 2 for 6.

Earlier in the day at Lusignan, Team Upsetters held their nerve in a close encounter, edging out Better Hope All Stars by 15 runs.

Upsetters posted 95 for 9 in their 10 overs, thanks mainly to a quickfire 35 off 18 balls from Seon Gaskin.

Better Hope’s Safraz Essau (3 for 22) bowled economically before returning to blast a rapid 31 off just 10 balls (4 sixes). However, despite his efforts and a 23 from Denesh Mangal, Better Hope fell short, finishing on 80 for 6.

Ganesh Surijpaul delivered a match-winning spell for Upsetters, conceding a miserly two runs in his two overs, which included a maiden.

At Everest, Village Rams secured their semi-final berth with a comfortable seven-wicket victory over Brooklyn Youth Strikers.

Chasing a modest target of 65, the Rams reached the finish line in just six overs. Malcolm Hubbard remained unbeaten on 18.

Brooklyn Youth Strikers had posted 64 for 7 earlier, with Orrin Gibson leading the scoring with 19 but receiving limited support.

Village Rams’ bowlers Wazim Rahaman (2 for 15) and Rashidi Benjamin (2 for 10) played key roles in restricting the opposition.

Up Tap XI defeated Tropix Essentials at the Georgetown Cricket Club by 37 runs in a high-scoring affair at Bourda.

Up Tap XI posted an impressive 124 for 7, built around Vishwanauth Ramlakhan’s brutal 53 off just 19 balls, which included eight sixes.

Beepaul Bandoo also contributed a quick 27 off 12 balls, while Mario Moonsammy picked up 2 for 9 for Tropix Essentials.

In reply, Nyles Liverpool’s aggressive 33 off 16 balls (5 sixes) kept Tropix in contention, but the chase ultimately faltered as Stephon Persaud’s 2 for 15 ensured Up Tap XI’s victory, limiting Tropix to 87 for 7.
