Tacama Gold Inc is set to cultivate about 7,500 acres of corn and soybeans this year, following successful production over the past few years.
This is the company’s third year in production. Last September, it was reported that 4,000 acres of soybeans, with an average yield of 1.2 tonnes per acre, were harvested at Tacama Gold Inc. in the Berbice River for the first crop of 2024.
This year, the company expects to do more.
In an update provided to the News Room from the company, it was noted that the cultivation expansion would not be possible without the support of the Tacama Gold team, Republic Bank, and the Government of Guyana. The government was credited for the construction of access roads, the dock, and both drying and storage facilities at Tacama.

The government invested in infrastructure development within the Tacama area to support agricultural production and cultivation targets. Part of Guyana’s ambitious food production goal is to become self-sufficient in livestock feed production by this year, reducing the reliance on costly imports.
