Gmin Ventures boosts golf’s growth in Guyana

The Lusignan Golf Club (LGC) has hosted its second Gmin Ventures Golf Tournament, which is quickly becoming a significant fixture on the local sporting calendar.

The competition highlighted not only the club’s resilience but also the crucial role of private partnerships in expanding the sport across the country.

Despite the tournament coinciding with a holiday period, LGC Public Relations Officer Brian Hackett described the turnout as “satisfactory.”

He noted that the event still managed to attract golfers keen to test their skills.

“This is the second year we’ve staged this tournament, and while many of our players were on vacation, we are pleased with the numbers,” Hackett said. “The support reflects a genuine commitment to the game.”

Hackett emphasized the importance of the partnership with Gmin Ventures, describing it as a welcome catalyst for growth.

He pointed out that private sector involvement is vital for the sustainability of sports in Guyana.

“When private sector partnerships support golf, it is always welcome. The private sector plays a great role in ensuring that sports continue, and through collaborations like this, we have already seen quite a few new players join this year. This particular partnership has been very successful.”

The tournament is more than just a competition; it provides visibility for the sport and demonstrates its potential to attract diverse participants.
