Labourer remanded for theft of electric bike

Edwards Ramnaught, a 31-year-old labourer of Herstelling, East Bank Demerara, will spend the next two weeks on remand for allegedly stealing a woman’s electric bike.

He appeared at the Diamond/Golden Grove Magistrate’s Court before Magistrate Wanda Fortune last Friday, charged with simple larceny.

Police said the red electric bike is valued at $60,000 and belongs to Reneta Pooran, a 56-year-old female resident of Grove.

The accused pleaded not guilty and will remain in jail until the matter is called again on February 7.
