The BabyD Agency, a childcare service provider established in the United States (US), has expanded to Guyana to support families navigating busy lives.
The agency was founded six years ago by Donette Brotherson, a Guyanese teacher who migrated years ago. After equipping herself with additional childcare skills and founding the agency in the US, she is back in Guyana to expand her business.
“We have seen how much families abroad benefit from professional newborn and toddler care, so the reason why we’re here is to offer help to new moms and extended families.
“… We’re used to the culture of your mom coming over to help, your cousins coming over to help but BabyD is here to help professionally,” Brotherson said at the launch of the BabyD Agency- Guyana on Saturday.
The childcare services offered aren’t the usual daycare services. They include newborn and postpartum care, lactation consulting, baby sleep therapy, nanny placement, night nurse and doula services.
Brotherson said trained staff from the agency go into a family’s home and provide these services, aiming to make parents feel more at ease.
Currently, she is hoping to train more local workers so that she can support many more families.
