Housing Ministry’s annex ‘ransacked’ 

The Ministry of Housing’s Annex in Georgetown was ransacked sometime between Sunday night and Monday morning but nothing has been reported stolen or missing as yet.

Police Headquarters reported that a male suspect was seen on CCTV camera footage entering and exiting the compound early Monday morning, and he is a person of interest as investigations continue.

At 20:00 hrs last night, a 22-year-old Office Assistant employed with the Ministry of Housing secured the three-storey building and reportedly lodged the keys for the doors at the guard hut at the nearby Ministry of Housing Head Office on Brickdam.

At 07:00 hrs Monday morning, the Office Assistant uplifted the keys to the building and shortly after, one of the cleaners arrived at work. She went up to the middle flat of the building where she discovered a door to one of the offices was opened and it was reportedly ransacked.

As a result, she immediately informed the Office Assistant.

Detectives reviewed CCTV footage which showed that at 00:22 hrs Monday morning, a man dressed in a black jersey, and green three-quarter pants on rode from the western side of Brickdam on a BMX bike, then turned north and stopped in front of the Ministry of Housing Annex.

It was then observed that the male entered a compound located to the south of the Annex, and then at 00:45 hrs, the suspect was observed exiting the western side of the Annex.

The suspect mounted the pedal cycle with a black haversack and white box and proceeded north on United Nations place then East on Coral Street and made good his escape.

Checks were made around the building and it was observed that one of the casement windows in the IT room on the middle flat was opened, but no signs of breakage were seen.

Several persons were interviewed by Police as investigations continue.
