Adeijhia Wright, a 20-year-old labourer of Grove, East Bank Demerara, was nabbed with 940 grammes (or about two pounds) of marijuana on Monday.
Police Headquarters said the man was seen acting suspiciously at about 13:15 hrs. He had a bulky black plastic bag in his right hand.
As such, he was stopped and questioned by the Police patrol.
Police searched the plastic bag in his possession which, when opened, contained leaves, seeds, and stems suspected to be marijuana.
He was immediately told of the allegation of ‘Possession of narcotics’ and cautioned. He was arrested and escorted to the Grove Police Station where the narcotic was weighed in his presence and amounted to 940 grammes.
Wright was placed in custody and is assisting with the ongoing investigation.
