Nedd, Thorne in Harpy Eagles squad for final rounds of Four-Day Championship

The Guyana Cricket Board (GCB) has announced the inclusion of left-arm spinner Ashmead Nedd and fast bowler Isai Thorne in the Guyana Harpy Eagles squad for the upcoming sixth and seventh rounds of the West Indies Four-Day Championship.

The defending champions, currently top of the points table, are down to play Leeward Islands Hurricanes from April 2 in St. Kitts and Trinidad and Tobago Red Force from April 9 at Queen’s Park Oval to wrap up the 2025 championship.

“Nedd strengthens the spin department, while Thorne’s return bolsters the fast-bowling unit, both crucial as the Harpy Eagles push to retain their title. His (Thorne) presence enhances the team’s ability to secure vital fast-bowling points in the upcoming rounds,” the GCB said in a release.

The release continued: “Gudakesh Motie will be unavailable as he departs for franchise cricket commitments, while seasoned batter Tagenarine Chanderpaul misses out due to injury.”

The squad reads: Tevin Imlach (captain), Kemol Savory (vice-captain), Kevlon Anderson, Matthew Nandu, Raymond Perez, Kevin Sinclair, Keemo Paul, Nial Smith, Veerasammy Permaul, Ronaldo Alimohamed, Richie Looknauth, Ashmead Nedd and Isai Thorne.

The Harpy Eagles currently lead the points table after five rounds with 102.6 points, maintaining a slim lead over Trinidad and Tobago Red Force (101), with the Leeward Islands Hurricanes (79.6) rounding off the top three.

Barbados Pride, Jamaica Scorpions, Windward Islands Volcanoes, Combined Campuses and Colleges and West Indies Academy complete the standings in that order.

“The Guyana Cricket Board extends its best wishes to the defending champions, the Harpy Eagles, as they continue their campaign,” the GCB release concluded.
