Yeudistir Persaud was unstoppable with bat and ball on Sunday when Georgetown Cricket Club (GCC) thumped Demerara Cricket Club (DCC) by 118 runs in the lone match of the New Building Society (NBS) Second Division 40-over competition, staged by the Georgetown Cricket Association.
The right-handed Persaud cracked a belligerent 133 in GCC’s 279 and then picked up three wickets as home side DCC folded for 161.
Persaud, a former national youth player, struck 11 sixes and six fours in what was his fourth Second Division hundred. He faced 115 balls.
The majestic ton was the base for GCC’s winning total, with Rivaldo Phillips hitting 46 off 25 (5x4s, 3x6s), Darshan Persaud, the brother of Yeudistir, making 27 off 31 (2x6s) and wicketkeeper Tyree Glasgow chipping in with 18 off 31 (1×6).
Bowling for DCC, Adrian Gibbons took 3-57 off his allotted eight overs, and Jaden Dowlin and Ezekiel Wilson picked up 2-36 and 2-57 respectively.

Despite a shot-filled 58 off 43 balls from Dowlin, an innings that included five fours and five sixes, DCC fell way short of the target.
Skipper Ricardo Percival with an unbeaten 23 off 35 (4x4s) was the only other player into double figures.
Yeudistir Persaud, who provided the initial breakthrough during the run-chase, returned to wrap up the innings, finishing with 3-14 off 5.3 overs.
National youth player Joash Charles was also impressive, capturing out three middle-order wickets to end with 3-21 off four overs.
In terms of club rivalry, the weekend ended 1-1 with DCC having defeated GCC by 131 runs in the Dave’s West Indian Imports/Georgetown Cricket Association (GCA) First Division 50-over competition the day before at ‘Bourda.’
