Parmanand Ramdial, the man who shot and killed his wife and two members of her family, was not a licensed firearm holder, according to police records.
Ramdial shot and killed his wife 25-year-old Maline LaCruz, her mother Waveney LaCruz, 50, and her younger sister, 16-year-old SueAnn LaCruz. A fourth victim, Maline’s brother, 23-year-old Seon LaCruz is injured.
The man then took his own life.
A search was conducted at Ramdial’s West Ruimveldt home but nothing illegal was found. However, Police Headquarters said checks made at Guyana Police Force’s Criminal Records Office (CRO) confirmed he was not a licensed firearm holder.
The firearm has since been sent to the ‘Ballistic Section’ for analysis.
Police also offered additional details on what transpired on the fateful Wednesday night.
Police Headquarters said Ramdial went to the family’s Ideal Road, Soesdyke/Linden Highway house on Wednesday night. Based on CCTV footage, he got into an argument with Maline.
“An argument was overheard on the audio from the CCTV footage, followed by several loud explosions. It also showed the suspect at a western door and when he drank something from a bottle and immediately fell to the ground,” Police said.
Ramdial was previously charged with wounding and using threatening language against Maline, his wife and the mother of his two children.
