More than 90 new housing areas developed since 2020- Croal

Over the past four and a half years, over 90 new housing areas were developed across the country, Minister of Housing and Water, Collin Croal said on Tuesday.

“Since we have gotten into office, in five years, we have started up over 90 new housing areas across every region of our country, across all 83,000 square miles,” Croal said at a housing drive held in Mabaruma, Region One.

During this period, over 48,000 house lots were allocated.

The development of these new housing areas aligns with the government’s aim of making housing affordable and accessible to all citizens.

And starting Friday, Croal said the Ministry of Housing will be conducting an exercise that will allow allottees to be shown the areas where they have been allocated.

“We will have an exercise for all of those new areas that we have allocated in the country, to take persons to show them where their land will be. The area where their lot will be while they await the infrastructure work to be done,” Croal said.

When this is done and access is granted, a follow-up exercise will be hosted to show persons their individual lots.

“So our housing programmes therefore speak to equilibrium. The housing programme has always been a priority for the PPP/C,” Croal said.
