Defending champions Guyana Defence Force pulled off an emphatic win over Mainstay Goldstar FC in the Guyana Football Federation’s Elite League on Sunday evening at the National Training Centre at Providence.
The army emerged with a thumping 17-0 success over the Essequibo club in a woefully one-sided affair.
The game was a done deal by the end of the first half, with GDF firing in seven goals.
Stephen McDonald was the scorer-in-chief, scoring five goals (9th, 21st, 30th, 47th and 54th minutes), with Trayon Bobb adding a hat-trick (11th, 45+2 and 56th minutes).
Delroy Ferdinand (24th and 35th), Keron Spencer (49th and 63rd), Amos Ramsay (66th and 86th) and Colwyn Adams (82nd and 85th) scored doubles, while Leshawn Myles netted in the 81st.

The previous night, at the Number Five ground in Berbice, East Coast club Ann’s Grove United prevailed 2-1 over Monedderlust.
Yohance Francis (4th) and Alden Lawrence (89th) netted for Ann’s Grove United, while Tryone Delph (25th) was on target for Monedderlust.
