T&T company Maraj Air Conditioning to enter local market next month

Trinidad and Tobago company, Maraj Air Conditioning Limited, soft-launched its entry into the local market on Wednesday evening.

The company joined over 27 others from Guyana, Suriname, and the twin islands for the closing reception of the Suriname-Guyana Chamber of Commerce (SGCC) and Trinidad and Tobago Manufacturers’ Association (TTMA) Trade Mission to Guyana.

The event was hosted at the Pegasus Hotel to mark the regional effort to strengthen business ties and ventures within the Caribbean.

Dr Ranisha Maraj, Director of the company, said it is a strategic move to enter Guyana as the nation’s development is rapid and the company aims to play a part in shaping this transformation.

“Guyana represents one of the most promising frontiers in the Caribbean, not only in terms of its economic growth and infrastructure development, but also in the strength, resilience and talent of its people,” Dr Maraj said.

The company has been in operation for over 40 years and continues to expand its footprint in the Caribbean. It has also expanded its services beyond retail and distribution, and is now a manufacturer of both commercial and domestic air conditioning solutions.

The company has also created an avenue for growth through its technical institution, which offers certified training in automotive, commercial, and domestic air conditioning.

Ambassador of Suriname to Guyana, Liselle Remelda Blankendal, said the trade mission will greatly benefit the Caribbean. She noted that this initiative is a clear example of the Chamber’s commitment to fostering meaningful economic cooperation across the region.

“It is crucial that we leverage these opportunities to strengthen regional value chains and create lasting partnerships that benefit all of our people,” the Ambassador said.

Focusing on the country’s oil and gas sector and manufacturing, the Ambassador said the receptiveness of Guyanese partners to explore opportunities is encouraging.

This first leg of the trade mission was a two-day event held at the Pegasus and will continue with a mission in Suriname.
