Rid-O-Pes Inc. has committed its support for the Demerara Cricket Board’s upcoming fund-raising T10 Cup at the LBI Ground, East Coast Demerara.
Weather permitting, the one-day tournament will be held on July 6.
Rid-O-Pes Inc, a second-generation Guyanese-owned pest control company, has been in business for over 40 years.
The family-operated establishment, located at Sixth Street, Alberttown, Georgetown. was founded by the late Eric Clayborn Tucker in 1983.
Operations Manager Eric Tucker Jr. said Rid-O-Pes is elated to support the development of cricket in Demerara, by joining the DCB T10 Cup as a corporate partner.
Tucker Jr. wished the board well and encouraged cricket fans to come out a witness a day of competitive action, all in a good cause.
In expressing gratitude to Rid-O-Pes for its sponsorship, DCB Chairman of Competition Avishkar Ramgobin said the board is enthused by the level of support given to the tournament by the corporate community.
He highlighted that the executives are monitoring the current weather conditions, with the hope that it improves in time for July 6 event.
Ramgobin emphasised that proceeds from the tournament will go towards the development of female and youth cricket in Demerara.
Rid O Pes Inc. joins Survival Group Inc., Petama Enteprise, Premier Insurance, CIC Insurance Brokers (Guyana) Inc., L. Mahabeer and Son Cambio, Office Express, Regal Stationery and Computer Centre, Anil Beharry Real Estate, Construction and General Business Services and Naven’s Construction as partners of the tournament.
Eight first division teams from the county will compete for top honours at the LBI Ground, with the format being a one game knockout.
The teams are Better Hope, Enterprise, Helena One and Two, Herstelling A, LBI, Lusignan, Meten-Meer-Zorg East and Transport Sports Club. Total cash prize of G$500,000 and trophies will be up grabs at the one day event.
While the teams will be represented by players within the respective associations, each team is allowed two guest players from other counties.
The champion team is guaranteed G$250,000 cash plus trophy; the runners-up G$150,000 and trophy, while the losing semi-finalists will be receive G$50,000 each.
On the individual side, Man-of-the-Match in the semi-finals and final will receive a trophy.
Action will bowl off at 10:00h and conclude under floodlights, with patrons paying G$1,000 for admission to the venue.
