New parties join APNU coalition

Three virtually unknown political parties have joined the People’s National Congress Reform (PNCR)-led A Partnership for National Unity (APNU) coalition.

The parties joining APNU, according to a Facebook post, are: Legalize Cannabis, A Movement for Improvement and the Kingdom Liberation Movement. Not much is known about the leaders of these parties.

“This important step reaffirms our unwavering commitment to building a coalition that truly reflects and represents the diverse voices and aspirations of our nation. Together, we strengthen our shared vision for unity, progress, and inclusive governance,” APNU wrote in the Facebook post.

APNU is a coalition led by the PNCR. However, other small parties such as the Working People’s Alliance (WPA), the Guyana Action Party (GAP) and the National Front Alliance (NFA) have been part of the grouping.

Over the past few months, APNU has been trying to revive a partnership with the Alliance For Change (AFC) for the 2025 elections. In 2015, an APNU+AFC coalition took office.
