Finance Minister Dr. Ashni Singh on Friday announced that the 8% salary increase for government workers will be paid together with July salaries.
The increase will be paid to all public servants, teachers, members of the disciplined services, constitutional office holders, as well as government pensioners.
It will be retroactive to January 1, 2025
Per a multi-year agreement signed last year between the Government of Guyana and the Guyana Public Service Union (GPSU), all public servants are to receive their 8% increase this year.
Just a day before, at a party press conference, Vice President Dr. Bharrat Jagdeo said the increase should be paid before the 2025 General and Regional Elections on September 1.
