Digital skills are crucial for young people as they navigate an increasingly digital world, impacting their personal lives, education, and future career prospects. These skills are essential for communication, accessing information, problem-solving, and staying competitive in the job market.
In 2023 – 2024, 70 young women, ages 16 – 25 from under resourced Regions, were equipped with skills needed to support their transition from high school to tertiary education and the world of work through the partnership between the Bank and the Association.
Schemel Patrick, Chief Commissioner, GGGA indicated the organisation’s delight in continuing to work with Scotiabank. “The Guyana Girl Guides Association is extremely proud and excited to once again partner with Scotiabank to bring a meaningful and timely project to life — one that is both necessary and impactful for girls and young women across Guyana. This initiative is centered on empowering girls and young women with the digital skills they need to succeed in school and prepare for the demands of the modern workplace. In addition to technical training, the project also prioritizes mental wellness, providing a safe and supportive space for open discussions and the sharing of vital information. Through this, we aim to help our girls build resilience and strengthen their overall emotional wellbeing. We are deeply grateful to Scotiabank for their continued investment in the development of young women and for sharing our vision of creating a generation of confident, capable, and well-rounded leaders.”
