Man operating front end loader dies following accident on West Bank Demerara

Police have launched an investigation following a fatal incident which occurred around 11:30 hrs on Wednesday on the Vive-La-Force Access Road, West Bank Demerara. The accident claimed the life of a 36-year-old man operating a front-end loader.

The man has been identified as Nadir Baksh, a resident of the Zeelugt Squatting Area, East Bank Essequibo. He was driving a front-end loader bearing registration number 24776 when the tragic incident unfolded.

According to police reports, preliminary enquiries revealed that Baksh was attempting to cross a wooden bridge when he apparently lost control of the vehicle. The loader veered off course and plunged into a nearby trench. Baksh was pinned beneath the heavy machinery and sustained serious injuries.

Colleagues at the scene managed to extract the loader from the trench and remove Baksh, who was unresponsive. He was transported to the West Demerara Regional Hospital, where medical personnel pronounced him dead on arrival.

Baksh’s body is currently at Ezekiel Funeral Home, where a post-mortem examination is expected to be conducted.

Police say investigations into the circumstances surrounding the incident are ongoing.
