Lenox Shuman, who previously served as presidential candidate of the Liberty and Justice Party (LJP) on Sunday, noted said he joined the People’s Progressive Party/Civic (PPP/C) after seeing investments in indigenous communities and young people.
Speaking at the launch of the PPP/C 2025 elections campaign, he noted that the party has demonstrated dynamism, foresight and vision.
“You cannot follow people who are visionless,” Shuman said. He served on the Opposition benches from September 2020 to March 2023 under a joinder list between the LJP, A New and United Guyana (ANUG) and The New Movement (TNM).
The former LJP Leader said investments in the Indigenous communities must be lauded.
“When I look for my brothers and sisters in those communities, I don’t think I have given enough time to talk about the exciting things coming to those communities,” he said.
He further referred to the provision of free education at the tertiary level which includes the University of Guyana and the Technical Institutes, noting that investment in free education is an investment in the future.
“It is the investment in youths that brought me to this party…. we should never gamble with our future, we should never gamble with our children’s future” he emphasized, adding that “only one camp looks out for our future and that is the People’s Progressive Party (PPP).”
