Batting first, TEAM A stumbled to 57-7 by lunch as a combination of penetrative bowling and poor shot selection characterised the opening session.

That set the tone for the day as wickets fell at regular intervals throughout.

TEAM A’s innings lasted 44.5 overs with the lanky Jonathon Mentore topscoring with 23 off 47 balls (3x4s), last-man Eron Benjamin making a brisk 20 off 13 (2x4s, 1×6) and Danvir Seegobin facing 42 balls for his 16 (3x4s).

Bowling for TEAM B, skipper Mohabir picked up 3-20, Feaz Baksh 2-9, Darwin Joseph 2-9, Jathneil Nurse 2-18, Dennis Crossman 1-13, Shane Prince 1-14 and Reyaz Latif 1-24.

TEAM B batted 45.4 overs in making 174, innings closed, with national Under-15 all-rounder Emmanuel Lewis scoring 37 off 49 (7x4s), the highest individual score of the day.

Shane Prince, batting at number 10, made 33 off 38 (3x4s, 2x6s), Bomesh Lall chipped in with 28 off 35 (4x4s) and opener Vishal Williams scored 19 off 40 (4x4s).

Bowling for TEAM A, Gibran Yacoob 2-19, Jonathan Mentore 2-21, Eron Benjamin 2-27, Danesh Persaud 2-25, Adrian Hetmyer 1-0, Danvir Seegobin 1-9 and Navindra Sankar 1-27 were among the wickets.

This trial fixture forms a crucial part of the Guyana Cricket Board’s early preparation for the upcoming Cricket West Indies (CWI) Regional Under-17 Tournament, which will take place in Trinidad and Tobago from August 11 to September 2.

The match serves as the final opportunity for players to impress the selectors before the national squad is announced.

Following the trial, the selected group will move into encampment starting August 2 as the team continues its build-up to the regional competition.
