Lieutenant Colonel (Ret’d) Mohamad Aziz Nezamudeen was conferred the Medal of Service by President Dr. Irfaan Ali for over 50 years of service in Guyana’s aviation sector and the Guyana Defence Force Air Corps.
The investiture ceremony, held on Tuesday at the Guyana Defence Force’s Hangar at the Eugene F. Correia International Airport, brought together dignitaries and military officials to honour Lt. Col. (Ret’d) Nezamudeen for his contributions.
In a symbolic moment, the medal was presented shortly after Nezamudeen completed another flight – an act the President described as “most fitting.”
Addressing the gathering, President Ali reflected on the influence Lt. Col. (Ret’d) Nezamudeen has had on the development of the Air Corps and on the many officers who trained under his guidance.
“I can say without any fear of contradiction, that your name and your legacy is written in all of their stories,” he said.
He also urged the young officers present to look beyond the technical skills of aviation and embrace the deeper values exemplified by Lt. Col. (Ret’d) Nezamudeen.
