Old-age pension will be at least $60,000; new transportation support coming – Pres. Ali announces

President Dr. Irfaan Ali on Sunday night announced that the old-age pension will be increased to a minimum of $60,000, should the People’s Progressive Party Civic (PPP/C) be re-elected to office at the September polls.

President Ali made this announcement on Sunday as he addressed a People’s Progressive Party Civic (PPP/C) rally in Lethem.

This venture, he said, means an additional $65 billion will be spent annually on the country’s elderly population.

Currently, the old age is $41,000. It was increased earlier this year from $36,000.

Additionally, the President promised that each pensioner will get $50,000 to support their transportation needs.
