President Ali announces new multi-service facility for Herstelling

President Irfaan Ali, during his address to residents of Herstelling, East Bank Demerara on Saturday night, bragged about the People’s Progressive Party’s (PPP) record of achievement and outlining plans for continued community development.

“Track record matters. I challenge anyone to stand on their record…You have a government, the PPP, that can campaign on its achievements,” Dr Ali said.

He acknowledged that, like any community, Herstelling faces challenges but highlighted the government’s consistent efforts to improve residents’ quality of life.

“We have had to fix every road in your village, take care of sanitation, put street lights on your posts, and invest in CCTV cameras to keep you and your families safe,” he said.

He added that the government continues to convert public assets in ways that promote the well-being of people and strengthen communities.

Addressing a major concern of residents, President Ali noted that the numerous mechanic shops in Herstelling have been blocking roadways, creating difficulties for traffic and community safety.

To resolve this, he announced plans to construct a new multi-service facility where all services will be consolidated in one location. This initiative will allow businesses to continue operating while ensuring residents enjoy a more organized and safer environment.

“This facility will provide convenience, improve accessibility, and help ensure people can live and work in a quality community,” President Ali said.

He emphasized that the initiative reflects the government’s broader commitment to transforming public assets and investing in infrastructure that directly benefits citizens.

Looking ahead, President Ali highlighted the PPP’s wider vision for national growth.

“We are on a mission, and that mission is about building the strongest economy, creating opportunities, and ensuring that every community has the resources and support to thrive,” he said.
