A 27-year-old Bartica businessman and a stallholder were on Monday arrested by the Police after they were allegedly nabbed with narcotics during a cordon and search exercise.
Police Headquarters said ranks of Region Seven carried out the exercise at the Bartica Market/Arcade.
During the first stop, Police said the Fifth Avenue, Bartica house of businessman, Edwin Myles also known as ‘Junior’ was searched.
Ranks discovered a transparent plastic bag which contained a whitish rock-like substance suspected to be cocaine on top of a wardrobe in the bedroom.
Myles admitted ownership of the substance.
During the search, ranks also discovered $30,760, suspected to be from narcotics sales, lighters and Ziploc bags.
The narcotics were weighed and it amounted to 24 grammes.
Subsequently, Police said the ranks also searched the stall of 27-year-old Neon Cole, from the said area.
Police added that leaves, seeds, and stems suspected to be cannabis were hidden in Cole’s crotch.
He too was arrested and taken to the Bartica Police Station, where the suspected cannabis was weighed and amounted to nine grammes.
Both Myles and Cole remain in custody pending further investigations.
