Following an armed robbery at the ‘Thousand Dollar Store’ in Mc Doom, East Bank Demerara on Friday, detectives from Regional Division 4’A’ recovered a firearm and several stolen items. The robbery, carried out by two armed bandits, prompted a swift response from law enforcement.
In the early hours of August 10, at approximately 6:20 hrs, detectives from the Ruimveldt Police Station executed a search operation at Middle Road, La Penitence, Georgetown. Acting on intelligence, officers entered an unoccupied, two-storey, incomplete concrete building that was surrounded by thick vegetation.
The search led to the discovery of a brown Michael Kors handbag in a room on the lower floor of the dilapidated structure. Inside the bag, authorities found a .32 pistol, one magazine (without ammunition), and several personal items belonging to one of the robbery victims. The recovered items included a Republic of Guyana passport, a Republic of Trinidad and Tobago passport, a Republic Bank visa card, and two identification cards.
The recovered items have been processed and are now lodged at the East La Penitence Police Station, where they were photographed for evidence. Despite questioning several individuals, no arrests have been made as of yet.
The investigation is ongoing as authorities continue to search for the suspects involved in the robbery.
