Guyana Football Federation signs new kit deal with European brand Meyba

The Guyana Football Federation (GFF) has announced a stylish new chapter, signing a five-year kit deal with European sportswear brand MEYBA.

The partnership will see MEYBA outfit both the Men’s and Women’s National Teams (Golden Jaguars and Lady Jaguars) with home and away kits, along with a range of high-quality training gear and travel wear.

“We are delighted to appoint MEYBA as our official kit and apparel partner,” said GFF President Wayne Forde. “MEYBA’s experience and global reputation will enhance our strategic objectives.”

Forde emphasized the focus on fan engagement, stating, “We want to redefine what it means to wear our colours. It’s about pride, passion, and a shared commitment to excellence. Over the next five years, expect a wider range of merchandise reflecting our fans’ passion and the Guyanese spirit.”

MEYBA’s Global Head of Marketing, Jonathan Jones, echoed the excitement. “We can’t wait to see the Golden Jaguars and Lady Jaguars sporting the iconic MEYBA logo during World Cup qualifiers.”

About MEYBA:

Founded in Barcelona by Josep Mestre and Joaquim Ballbé, MEYBA boasts a rich history in sportswear. After launching in the 1940s, MEYBA rose to prominence in 1981 as FC Barcelona’s first official kit supplier. Legendary players like Maradona, Laudrup, Koeman, and a young Pep Guardiola wore the MEYBA M logo under Johan Cruyff’s management.

Today, MEYBA remains active with professional clubs globally, but their reach extends beyond the pitch. Recent collaborations include fashion lines with FC Real Bristol (Japan), Rave Skateboards (Paris), and The Beatles – a first-ever officially licensed football collection.

The bespoke MEYBA x GFF jerseys will debut in December 2024 and be available online and in retailers worldwide.

About the GFF:

Established in 1902, the GFF is the oldest football federation within CONCACAF and the governing body for football in Guyana. Affiliated with FIFA since 1968, the GFF promotes football development at all levels, from grassroots to elite competition. (Modified release from GFF)
