Press Release from the Guyana Motor Racing and Sports Club

The Guyana Motor Racing and Sports Club (GMR&SC) is proud to announce the introduction of a full female circuit racing class, set to debut at the highly anticipated ENet Caribbean Clash of Champions on November 9-10 at the South Dakota Circuit.

This initiative follows the tremendous success of the female drag racing class, which has seen a surge in female participation and achievements in motorsport.

The female drag racing class has been a groundbreaking addition to the GMR&SC’s events, attracting several talented female drivers who have competed fiercely alongside their male counterparts.

A historic moment was achieved at the last drag race when Malicia Lawrence became the first female driver to win a time bracket, clinching the victory in the 14-second class.

This milestone victory has inspired the GMR&SC to promote women in motorsport further.

The upcoming full female circuit racing class will serve as an introductory platform for women eager to explore the world of circuit racing.

All participating drivers must meet the necessary safety requirements, including installing a roll cage, working fire extinguisher, and four-point harness in their vehicles. The class is open to automatic and manual cars; turbo and non-turbo vehicles will be accepted.

“This new female class is a significant step forward in our commitment to inclusivity and the growth of motorsport in Guyana,” said Luis Kumar, GMR&SC Executive.

“We are excited to see the enthusiasm and talent these women bring to the track, and we believe the time is right to provide them with more opportunities to compete at higher levels.”

Female drivers interested in participating in the new circuit racing class are encouraged to contact the GMR&SC for further information and registration details.
