Javed Baksh, a 32-year-old man, was Tuesday arrested after he was nabbed with 1,002 grammes (or about two pounds) of marijuana.
Police Headquarters said the marijuana was discovered during a raid at 7th Street Bartica, Region Seven.
As Police ranks approached a two-storey building in a fenced compound, they saw Baksh run and toss a plastic bag between a water trestle.
Police retrieved the bag and found it to contain a quantity of leaves, seeds and stems suspected to be Cannabis. So Baksh was arrested and escorted to Bartica Police Station. The narcotic was weighed in his presence and amounted to 1,002 grammes.
A video interview was conducted with Baksh, who, when cautioned, stated, amongst other things, that he purchased the narcotic intending to sell it.
He was placed into custody, where he remains pending charges.
