Security guard, 57, fatally stabbed by colleague 

Shawn Lovell, a 57-year-old security guard, was stabbed multiple times and killed by his colleague, 38-year-old Junior Anthony Lindore, on Saturday night at the Guyana National Museum.

Police Headquarters reported that the crime occurred at about 19:00 hrs Saturday.

Lovell and Lindore are both employees of Atlas Security Service and were both scheduled to work at the museum on Saturday.

At 17:40 hrs Saturday, Police said, Lindore went to the Guyana National Museum where he took over duty from Lovell. However, at about 19:00 hrs, Lovell reportedly returned to the guard hut at the museum, where he accused Lindore of stealing his cellphone.

Police said a heated argument ensued, and Lindore reportedly stabbed Lovell to his back (twice), his right shoulder and right hand (four times). Lovell reportedly ran out from the guard hut and fell in a nearby concrete drain, east of the museum, motionless.

The Emergency Medical Technicians were summoned but Lovell was pronounced dead. Three knives and one cutlass were found in the guard hut.

The scene was processed by a team from the Crime Scene Unit of the Criminal Investigations Department. Additionally, several persons were questioned.

The suspect was also contacted at the scene, where he was told of the allegation, arrested, and cautioned. Police said he subsequently confessed to the crime, and a video/audio interview was conducted with him.

Meanwhile, Lovell’s body was escorted to the Memorial Garden Funeral Home, awaiting an autopsy.
