Guyana’s Vidushi Persaud-McKinnon elected to World Archery Gender Equity Committee

In a historic achievement for the nation, Vidushi Persaud-McKinnon, President of Archery Guyana, has been elected to the Gender Equity and Inclusion Committee of World Archery.

Her election took place during the 56th World Archery Congress in Gwangju, Korea, a gathering that also saw Greg Easton (USA) elected President of the global governing body.

Persaud-McKinnon’s appointment marks the first time Guyana has secured a seat on one of World Archery’s permanent governance committees.

The committee is tasked with developing and implementing international policies to promote fairness, diversity, and equal opportunities in sports.

“This moment is a proud one for Guyana,” said Persaud-McKinnon. “I am honoured to contribute to advancing inclusion and equity worldwide. It is a privilege to represent Guyana, the Caribbean, and the Americas on the international stage, ensuring that voices from smaller nations are part of the global conversation.”

Easton’s election as president, succeeding Professor Dr. Ugur Erdener, ushers in a new era of leadership. His decisive win reflects the confidence the global archery community has placed in his vision for the sport’s future.

The new leadership, combined with the strengthened representation of women and small nations like Guyana, is seen as a sign of a renewed commitment to inclusivity and global reach within archery.
