President Dr. Irfaan Ali has unveiled his administration’s strategic vision for the next five years, emphasising major advancements in economic development, trade and environmental sustainability.
“Over the next five years, we plan to establish shipping and logistics hubs linking Brazil and CARICOM, thereby creating new markets and new opportunities for our people.”
To achieve these plans, President Ali said a high level of productivity and effective implementation will be critical, while technology and innovation will play an essential role.
The President made these remarks during his speech on Sunday after taking the oath of office to serve a second term following his re-election at the September 1 polls.
He stressed that Guyana’s transformation must drive both economic diversification and human capital development.
“Labour must include proper manpower planning, while agriculture must ensure food security,” he said, while emphasising the importance of sustainable environmental management.
“Managing the forestry sector in a manner which maintains our environmental credentials will be key, as we solidify our position as global leaders in the fight against climate change.
“This plan is not just about growth. It’s about creating opportunities, protecting our environment, and building a future where innovation, sustainability and human development go hand in hand,” Dr Ali said.
