President of the Central Corentyne Chamber of Commerce, Poonia Bhigroop, expressed confidence that President Irfaan Ali’s new government will continue to promote development in Region Six and other areas of Guyana.
President Ali was sworn in for a second term in office on Sunday.
Bhigroop, a seasoned businessman, stated that President Ali’s re-election is a testament to the qualities he displayed as a leader during his first term. He said the President’s vision has led to the development of many necessary projects.
“Recently, we have had extremely developments in the country; we have had new hospitals, we will be having a new Berbice River Bridge soon, very soon will be having the commissioning of the Demerara Harbour Bridge soon, we have massive investment going on at Palmyra, and the national stadium is very visible, and I hope by next we can have some cricket there,” he told the News Room.

He also opined that many investments have been made in the private and public sectors and expects many more transformative projects to unfold in the years ahead.
Bhigroop urged Berbicians to prepare themselves to take advantage of the expected developments over the next five years.
“I know with the ability of the People’s Progressive Party Civic (PPP/C) and the government as a whole, there are going to be getting people who are very hard working and who are very deserving ministers to see the future of this country,” he stated.
