Parliament will reconvene as Constitution provides – Pres. Ali reassures citizens

President Ali has pushed back against opposition calls on social media for the early convening of Parliament, saying his government will act within constitutional limits.

During a Tuesday morning exchange, the President reminded that under Article 69(1) of the Constitution, Parliament must be convened within four months of dissolution.

“Parliament was dissolved on the 3rd of July. That gives us until November. I can assure you it will be reconvened within the constitutional timeframe,” Ali said.

He dismissed any suggestion of delay beyond what the law allows.

“I would never do anything outside of the Constitution. The timeframe is clear, and we are operating within it,” he stressed.

The President added that the focus of his government is to continue progressing its agenda, assuring citizens that constitutional governance remains intact.
