Rotaract Georgetown Central continues impactful projects

With the start of the New Rotary Year (July 2025-June 2026), the Rotaract Club of Georgetown Central set the tone for a year of innovation, collaboration and meaningful service. Guided by our annual theme “Innovate and Serve: Together We Thrive” the club remained committed to delivering impactful and innovative projects in quarter one that reflect the evolving needs of the communities served.

With the vision set, each Director, along with their committee members, was entrusted with the responsibility to ensure that through collaborative planning and execution, their projects embraced innovation, drive impact and promote sustainability.

Altogether, these efforts have led to a unified and risk based approach to service, where our six core arms have answered the call that culminated into the execution of the following projects from July to September 2025:

Empowering the Next Generation – Through Community Service, the club executed “Rota Vocational Bootcamp.” The Rota Vocational Bootcamp presented a skills-training initiative designed to empower young people in institutional care settings with practical knowledge and hands-on experience that can be directly applied to the workforce. Through structured workshops, participants were introduced to a variety of vocational areas such as the Art of Painting, Robotics and First Aid fundamentals. The program was aimed to bridge the gap between education and employability by equipping participants with marketable skills that can support entrepreneurship, job readiness and personal growth. This initiative not only uplifted individual participants but also contributed to national development by fostering a skilled, confident and work-ready generation.

Fueling our Mission to Make Millions – the Finance Committee plays a pivotal role in generating the funds needed to ensure the successful execution of projects. This quarter, Hope Chest 3.0 and our Annual Fundraising Raffle was executed to support our mission.

Hope Chest 3.0 builds on previous successes by providing an easy and meaningful way for members, partners and supporters to contribute. Donation boxes are now conveniently placed in twenty strategic locations across communities, including well-known favourites like Massy and Bounty Supermarkets, making it easier for anyone to give back.

Building Bridges Beyond Borders – Tasked with fostering goodwill and global connections, our International Service Committee brought this mission to reality through two dynamic projects: “Lewwe Gyaff” and Project READ (Read Every day and Discover.”

“Lewwe Gyaff,” a colloquial expression of “Let’s Talk” was more than just a conversation. It embodied a vibrant cultural exchange that unified members of the Rotaract Club of Georgetown Central and the Rotaract Club of Providenciales in Turks and Caicos (District 7020). The project sought to create spaces for open dialogue, cultural sharing and inter-club learning, altogether strengthening the bonds between the clubs and celebrating diversity within the Rotary Family.

Through Project READ, the club championed literacy as a bridge to opportunity. As an annual signature project and currently in its eleventh edition, Read InsyNC focused on preteen living with Dyslexia and Dyscalculia with the aim to foster and create inclusion for all, in and out of the classroom. Through the promotion of daily reading habits and access to educational materials, the project empowered young minds and encouraged learning.

Developing Leaders from Within – while our service projects transforms communities, our Professional Development Committee focused on bolstering the membership and equipping Rotaractors with the tools, skills and confidence needed to thrive as leaders both within Rotary and in their personal and professional lives.

On Sunday, September 14, 2025, the members of RCGC engaged in a powerful Professional Development learning and development session. Through this session, we explored the intersection of Gender Equity, Leadership and Emotional Wellness learning how our leadership not only shapes us personally but also influences those around us.

Strengthening Bonds, Elevating Spirits – at the heart of every thriving club is fellowship. The Club Service Committee, through intentional and well-planned projects strengthened member engagement, built team spirit and cultivated a vibrant inclusive club culture.

This quarter, the “Ministry of Enjoyment” delivered two projects that blended fun, fellowship and purpose: Institutional Strengthening 2025 and Saddle Up with Central.

Under the theme “Pause. Reflect. Lead” Institutional Strengthening 2025 offered a rich and rewarding experience for members through leadership development sessions, scenic nature walks and overnight camping experiences. The retreat encouraged personal reflection, bolstered leadership capacity and deepened bonds among members.

Notwithstanding, with a bold western twist, the committee also executed “Saddle Up with Central.” The event combined cultural flair, themed cuisine, interactive games and meaningful fellowship.

Committing to a Greener Future – this quarter, the Disaster Risk Management and Environmental Sustainability Committee (DRMES) turned awareness into action through two impactful projects aimed at protecting our planet and promoting responsible citizenship.

With gloves on and sleeves rolled up, members of RCGC joined the Environmental Protection Agency-Guyana and fellow local groups for a Coastal Cleanup. Most notably, in reinforcing our commitment to long-term impact, the Club’s Sustainability Pledge was signed by the new Board. Now in its second year, the pledge signals our ongoing commitment to embedding sustainability into our operations where practical.

Together, these efforts underscores DRMES’s mission to inspire action, build resilience and create a culture of sustainability.

As we reflect on Quarter One, the Rotaract Club of Georgetown Central proudly concludes an impactful and innovative start to the Rotary Year. None of this would have been possible without the dedication of our valuable members and the unwavering support from our many partners, sponsors, collaborators, our Parent Club – Rotary Club of Georgetown Central, our sister clubs Rotaract Clubs of New Amsterdam & Corriverton, and our Interact Clubs of Queen’s College & The Bishops’ High School.

With gratitude, we celebrate these achievements as a collective triumph and with renewed energy, we look forward to the quarters ahead, continuing to Innovate and Serve: Together We Thrive. [Rotaract Club of Georgetown Central Press Release]
