A masterful hundred from skipper Matthew Nandu and a solid fifty from Raymond Perez powered Demerara to a commanding win over the Select XI to remain unbeaten in the Queensway Security Service Inc. Senior Super50 Inter-County on Tuesday at Enmore.
Chasing 186, the defending champions coasted to a convincing nine-wicket win with opener Nandu bringing up his maiden Inter-County century with the winning shot, a cut for four off seamer Carlos LaRose.

The diminutive left-hander ended on 103 off 142 balls (4x4s, 2x6s), while the right-handed Perez eased to an unbeaten 51 off 75 (1×6).
Nandu and Perez added an unbroken 129 for the second wicket to seal the win, after Nandu and Ushardeva Balgobin with 27 off 46 (3x4s) laid the foundation with an opening stand of 59 in 16.2 overs.
“It’s a special feeling,” Nandu told News Room Sport after the match-winning knock.
“I’m just glad we got the win today. A hundred is always special, but moreso the win.”

It was Nandu’s second score above 50 in the tournament, following a classy 73 against Essequibo in the opening round last weekend. In that game Nandu also copped the Player-of-the-Match award.

Opting to bat first, Select XI slipped from 100-2 in the 32nd over to 185 all out, with seam pair Ronaldo AliMohamed (4-53) and Jonathan Van Lange (3-36) doing the damage, with left-arm spinner Chandrapaul Ramraj impressing with 2-27.
Skipper and opener Romeo Deonarain topscored for the Select XI with 52 off 95 (4x4s, 1×6), while Brandon Jaikarran made 26, Afraz Budhoo 23, Kwesi Mickle 21 and Joshua Jones 19.
