No fees on money transfers to Jamaica as Massy, MoneyGram introduce waiver to support hurricane relief

Guyanese sending money to relatives and friends in Jamaica can now do so free of charge, as Massy Remittances, in partnership with MoneyGram International, has announced a temporary fee waiver to assist communities impacted by Hurricane Melissa.

The no-fee initiative runs through November 2, 2025, allowing customers in Guyana to send funds to Jamaica without paying transfer fees via any MoneyGram location or through the Massy Remittance WIDIT App, where transactions can be staged online and later completed at a participating outlet.

Massy Remittances said the move forms part of its solidarity efforts with Jamaica as the country works to recover from the storm’s devastation.

Though some MoneyGram locations in Jamaica remain temporarily closed, the company assured that transfers made during the relief period will remain available for collection for up to 90 days, ensuring recipients can access funds when it’s safe to do so.

The initiative also extends to St. Lucia and Trinidad, enabling families across the region to send critical financial support to Jamaica as recovery efforts continue.
