A motorcyclist is now dead following an accident at Stanleytown, New Amsterdam, on Thursday afternoon.
Dead is Daniel North, 22, a resident of 8th Street Village, East Bank Berbice.
According to Police Headquarters, at approximately 16:30 hours, Daniel was riding motorcycle CP 1385, traveling north in the western drive lane at a normal speed.
It is alleged that, while moving along an access road on the western side, the motorcycle was traveling at a fast rate and collided with the left front side of motorcar PLL 6600. A 56-year-old man was driving the motorcar.
The impact caused Daniel to suffer significant injuries as he was thrown from his motorcycle. He was promptly transported to the New Amsterdam Public Hospital, but unfortunately succumbed to his injuries while receiving treatment.
The driver of the motorcar is currently undergoing medical attention at the same hospital. Investigations into the incident are ongoing.
