Golden Jaguars romp to 4-1 over Antigua in Friendly Series

The Golden Jaguars delivered a commendable opening run in the CONCACAF Friendly Series, securing back-to-back victories under new Head Coach Thomas Dooley to maintain a perfect record in Group C.

Following a tense debut victory, the Golden Jaguars finished their November fixtures with a convincing 4-1 demolition of hosts Antigua and Barbuda at the Sir Vivian Richards Ground on Tuesday evening.

The new era under UEFA Pro-licensed coach Thomas Dooley began successfully against Bonaire on Saturday,  albeit in a hard-fought encounter.

Guyana looked far more clinical, taking just 11 minutes to break the deadlock through their leading scorer, Omari Glasgow.

Glasgow doubled the lead shortly after, converting a penalty in the 23rd minute, ensuring a solid 2-0 advantage at the interval.

Although the hosts pulled a goal back through Quinton Griffith in the 61st minute to reduce the deficit, any hopes of a comeback were quickly extinguished by the visitors.

The Golden Jaguars hit back with two goals in the space of five minutes to seal the victory:

Osaze DeRosario, continuing his scoring form from the previous match, restored the two-goal cushion in the 71st minute and Stephen Duke-McKenna etched his name onto the score-sheet in the 76th minute, completing the 4-1

The victories mean Guyana ends the first leg of the CFS campaign top of Group C with two wins from two, providing a significant boost to their FIFA ranking position.

The team will resume their campaign in March 2026 when they face Aruba and Barbados, with the potential for one of those matches to be held on home soil.
