Police say ‘no foul play’ after body of missing 12-year-old found on Golden Fleece foreshore

Police in Regional Division Two are probing the death of 12-year-old Samesh Singh of Golden Fleece Koker Dam, Essequibo Coast, whose body was discovered on Friday morning after he was reported missing the previous day.

Singh was last seen on Thursday, 20 November, and a search was launched after relatives realised he had not returned home. At about 08:00 hrs on Friday, a family member checking the Golden Fleece foreshore made the grim discovery, spotting the child lying face-down on the sand. The relative immediately alerted the police.

A senior detective led the team that responded, processed the scene, and confirmed that the body was found roughly 150 feet northeast of the Golden Fleece koker. The child was clad only in a cream-coloured boxer at the time of discovery.

Singh was taken to the Suddie Public Hospital, where a doctor pronounced him dead on arrival. His body has since been transferred to the hospital mortuary, where it awaits a post-mortem examination.

Police say no foul play is suspected at this stage, but investigations are ongoing.
