A remarkable family success story unfolded at the 2025 World Powerlifting Championship in Kona, Hawaii, as brothers Dinesh Mangra and Marlon Nankishore, representing Guyana, secured first place in their respective divisions.
It is understood that the specific championship is not affiliated with the International Powerlifting Federation.
The victories solidify an extraordinary run for Dinesh Mangra, who claims he has never lost a lift in his 17-year competitive career.
Dinesh Mangra, competing in the 179 lbs bodyweight class, secured the world title with a dominant bench press performance. He powered through a staggering 501 lbs (227.2 kg) final lift.
His brother, Marlon Nankishore (178 lbs bodyweight), matched the golden haul by also claiming first place in his division. Nankishore showcased his versatility by excelling in bench press, deadlift, and push-pull events.
His successful lifts included a 335 lbs (152 kg) bench press and a 435 lbs (197.3 kg) deadlift, ensuring the Wakenaam-raised duo returned with two world championships.
The brothers offered thanks to their support system, including Dinesh’s son, Kishan Mangra, wife, Shira Sadhari, their three coaches and their wider support base, acknowledging the collective effort behind their individual successes on the global platform.
