Dislocated right shoulder forces Perez out of Super50

Guyana Harpy Eagles batter Raymond Perez has been ruled out of the ongoing CG United Super50 Cup with a dislocated right shoulder.

The 26-year-old picked up the injury while attempting to stop a ball in the cover region, diving forward full length during the first over of Trinidad and Tobago Red Force’s reply in the third round match at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy on Sunday.

The Demerara Cricket Club right-hander will be out of action for at least six weeks, having sustained a ‘Reduced Acute Anterior Right Shoulder Dislocation.’

No replacement will be named to the Harpy Eagles squad.

After being attended to on field by team physiotherapist Angelica Holder, Perez was stretchered off and taken to San Fernando General Hospital for medical evaluation and treatment.

To aid his recovery, Perez will be in a broad arm sling for the next three weeks, followed by the commencement of a physiotherapy rehabilitation programme for shoulder strengthening.

An MRI has also been recommended on his return home to evaluate the glenoid labrum further as the risk of recurrent shoulder dislocation remains high in the future.

Perez made his List A debut for Guyana in the opening round of the tournament, hitting 61 off 66 balls (6x4s, 1×6) against Jamaica Scorpions. He scored 11 against the Red Force.

Perez has also played 11 First-Class matches for Guyana, scoring 524 runs at an average of 32.75, with the highest of his three half-centuries being 82.
