Chief of Defence Staff Brigadier Omar Khan, MSS, and senior officers of the Guyana Defence Force (GDF) on Monday welcomed the Commander of the Colombian Navy, Admiral Juan Ricardo Rozo, during a courtesy call at the Executive Room, Base Camp Ayanganna.
Admiral Rozo was accompanied by a high-level delegation, including President of COTECMAR Vice Admiral Luis Fernando Márquez Velosa, Captain Nicolas Mila, Commander Sonia Marcela Suzunaga Suarez, and Lieutenant Martha Lucia Rojas Hurtado.
The meeting focused on strengthening bilateral relations between Guyana and Colombia, with discussions centred on expanding defence cooperation and identifying new areas for collaboration. Both sides underscored the value of enhanced joint engagements and deeper military-to-military partnership, emphasising capacity-building across sectors of shared interest.
The engagement reaffirmed the commitment of both countries to advancing their longstanding defence relationship and exploring future opportunities to work together.
