Fast bowler Johann Layne impressed with a three-wicket haul as West Indies drew their two-day warm-up game against a New Zealand XI in Christchurch.
West Indies declared on 346-5 at the end of Day One, and then dismissed New Zealand XI for 264 on the final day.
Layne finished with 3-33 off nine overs, while Kavem Hodge and Jomel Warrican had 2-32 and 2-54 respectively. There was a wicket apiece for Kemar Roach, Anderson Phillip and Roston Chase.
Cam Paul was the top scorer for New Zealand XI, making 91 off 135 (10x4s, 3x6s), while Muhammas Abbas scored 61 off 115 balls (7x4s).
West Indies’ batter enjoyed conditions on the opening day with Tagenarine Chanderpaul (85), Brandon King (79), John Campbell (68) and Hodge (55*) all spending valuable time at the crease ahead of the first Test on December 1-5 in Christchurch.
The next two Test matches will be played in Wellington on December 9-13 and Mount Maunganui from December 17-21.
