Police in Regional Division #8 are investigating after officers recovered a quantity of suspected cannabis during an operation in Campbelltown Village, Potaro, on Thursday.
During the exercise, ranks stopped a motorcycle driven by a 28-year-old male vendor from Melanie Damishana, East Coast Demerara, and Block 22 Wismar, Linden. The rider was seen carrying a bulky plastic bag and attempted to evade police, losing control of the motorcycle before being apprehended.
A subsequent search of the suspect and the motorcycle revealed a quantity of leaves, seeds, and stems suspected to be cannabis inside the plastic bag.
The man was arrested and escorted to the Mahdia Police Station along with the suspected narcotics and the motorcycle, where he remains in custody.
The suspected cannabis was weighed in his presence, totalling 4.385 kilograms. The substances have been processed and lodged as investigations continue.
